I just can't make myself keep reading this. Maybe it's just the mood I'm in but I haven't been this bored while reading a book since I read The Historian. Like The Historian, The Shadow of the Wind is one of those literary fiction books that try to be an exciting mystery, except it keeps getting bogged down in history and pages and pages of things that could be left out. I know a lot of other people liked this, even loved it, but I did not find it compelling. I don't care for the author's writing style. I can't bring myself to care about the mystery or the setting. Maybe it gets better later, or maybe I should come back to it later when I'm in a different mood, but I just can't keep pushing myself to read it right now.
