3.5 stars. The Magicians' Guild doesn't quite get 4 stars from me because all of the running around and hiding the main character Sonea does drags on for too long. I think if we had gotten past this part a lot sooner and more would have happened I would have liked it enough to give it 4 stars.

I wasn't real crazy about Sonea for a while, but she grew on me. I liked both Rothen and Dannyl a lot and I hope the next book gives more character development for both of those characters. Cery was ok, but I hope he doesn't end up being the love interest in the future. I would like to see Sonea end up with a magician.

I do need to say something about the cover, if that is supposed to be Sonea and Cery they are 10 years too old! It bothers me when a book cover doesn't match up to the descriptions in the book.

I think this is a good start to a series. The mystery surrounding the High Lord grabbed my interest and I really want to know what he is up to so I will be reading the next book. I also want to see Sonea grow and mature as a character. Oh and Fergun, it really irks me that he is still walking around free after what he did. I hope he gets his due.
